The MAK on Google Arts & Culture

Experience Gustav Klimt at First Hand

With numerous high definition scans of its collection highlights and with virtual tours through the museum and its branch Geymüllerschlössel the MAK participates in the Google Arts & Culture platform.
This way to the MAK’s digital presentation on the Google Arts and Culture platform.

In Gustav Klimt’s work drawings for the execution of a frieze in the dining room of the Stoclet House in Brussels (1910–1911), the MAK possesses the culmination of his mature artistic work. Through gigapixel images of the nine panels, on Google Arts and Culture you can now get closer to the artist than ever before.

A further masterpiece was scanned in high definition with the Art Camera: the Hamzanama. This heroic epic, created around 1570 in what is today India, is one of the most outstanding works of painting of the Islamic world. Of the original 1 400 sheets, today 200 are still preserved in various collections around the world. With 60 sheets, the MAK possesses the largest set of all.

In addition, numerous other highlights from the MAK Collection await you, some in the form of gigapixel images. If you don’t already know the MAK Branch Geymüllerschlössel, through Street View you will have an opportunity of making a virtual visit to this Biedermeier gem on the outskirts of Vienna—although we also look forward to your visiting it in reality!
