Valentine SPRINGER

Valentine Springer, the sister of Alphonse and Louis Rothschild, fled to Switzerland in 1938. Although she was a British citizen by marriage, her assets that remained in Austria were seized by the Nazi regime. After the end of WWII, almost her entire property was returned to her. Between 1950 and 1959, Valentine Springer donated 162 objects to the Ethnological Museum and ten objects to the Museum of Military History. The MAK received a sedan.

In its meeting on 3 May 2013, the Art Restitution Advisory Board stated that this donation was not linked to an export application and advised against the restitution of the sedan.
