MAK Works on Paper Room

99 posters by Julius Deutschbauer und Gerhard Spring, who joined forces as cultural activists of a different nature during the political unrest of 2000, comprise the main focus of an exhibition in the MAK Works on Paper Room. Their actions, for which they work with concepts only in a marginal sense, grew continuously from a local affair to a subtle media event. Their “happenings” can hardly be pinned down using the conventional terms of urban surroundings. Yet their themes are specifically political and even more so a mirror of the state of the Austrian soul. After their decision to go their separate ways in October 2007, the MAK took it upon itself to bring them together for one final collaborative project.
