Join us in celebrating fantastic fashion design! The Schlössel garden transforms into a fashion lounge. Culinary highlights with PopChop, Oberwasser Fisch, Buschenschank in Residency, workshops with artists, guided tours, talks, and a vintage market offer a diverse program centered around the theme of fashion in a Biedermeier ambiance. In the enchanting Biedermeier gem MAK Geymüllerschlössel, you can discover furniture from the Empire and Biedermeier periods, admire old-Viennese clocks from the Franz Sobek collection, and explore the floral, feminine, and fantastical fashion world of Austrian designer Florentina Leitner as part of our (CON)TEMPORARY FASHION SHOWCASE series.

MAKit! Workshop for Adults
Flowers to Wear: Head
with the artist Alma Bektas

Under the theme “Flowers to Wear,” workshop participants, under the artistic direction of Alma Bektas, design wearable flower pieces at various dates. Each of the three workshops focuses on a different body part, for which a piece is produced—from rings to necklaces to headpieces. Fresh and artificial flowers, along with various materials, are combined to create what are known as “wearables,” including accessories, jewelry, or small items of clothing. On the opening day, wearables for the hand are created. The workshop takes place in the park of Geymüllerschlössel in good weather and is relocated to MAK on Stubenring in case of rain. Participants will be informed of the location three days before each respective date via email.

Culinary happening with Oberwasser Fisch
The Oberwasser fish farm is located in the heart of the Lower Austrian Prealps on the upper reaches of the Schwarza, characterized by the beauty of nature. In the midst of this breathtaking landscape of the Natura2000 nature reserve, Oberwasserfisch finds the perfect living conditions for its trout and char. Animal welfare, quality and sustainability are the top priorities.

In the castle garden there are salmon trout skewers from the Japanese Konro Grill (in 2 variations: lime, coriander, mint or spicy mayo), accompanied by refreshing drinks.

Guided Tour through the Geymüllerschlössel and (Con)temporary Fashion Showcase: Florentina Leitner
In the 2024 season of the (CON)TEMPORARY FASHION SHOWCASE – a series dedicated to the presentation of current fashion design and contemporary art with a focus on clothing in the Biedermeier atmosphere of the MAK Geymüllerschlössel – the focus is on the floral, feminine, and fantastic fashion world of the Austrian designer Florentina Leitner. The designer, who lives in Antwerp, is inspired by classic films and art. In addition to Lady Gaga, she has also already accoutered Kylie Jenner and Ellie Goulding. She is primarily known for her three-dimensional flowers, seemingly inflated sunglasses, and romantic looks.
