Führung durch die Ausstellung mit dem MAK-Kunstvermittlungsteam.

Mit der bisher umfassendsten Retrospektive zu seinem Gesamtwerk würdigt das MAK das eindrucksvolle Schaffen des Architekten, Designers, Lehrers, Ausstellungsmachers und Mitbegründers der Wiener Werkstätte Josef Hoffmann (1870–1956). Als eine der zentralen Figuren der Wiener Moderne kultivierte Hoffmann ein exemplarisches Modell moderner Lebensweisen und legte den Fokus auf Ästhetik und Schönheit als zentrale Parameter moderner Gestaltung. 
 
In 20 Kapiteln nähert sich die Ausstellung mit mehr als 1 000 Exponaten seinem gewaltigen Lebenswerk. Er galt als Geschmacks- und Identitätsstifter als langjähriger Lehrer, einflussreicher Kunstgewerbedesigner sowie Mitbegründer der Wiener Secession. Die Ausstellung spannt einen Bogen von seiner Jugend bis zu seinem Tod 1956.
