Dialogue
Caroline Wohlgemuth in conversation with journalist Sabine Nikolay

In 1938 Vienna lost its best, most creative minds. It was a historical rupture that affected all the arts and sciences and whose reverberations can be felt to this day—to include in the world of furniture design. With inexhaustible creativity, the Viennese designers continued their work in exile. They taught at the best universities and disseminated their ideas and visions throughout the world. Epitomizing the Mid-Century Modern Style, their furniture became 20th-century design classics. The book pays homage to the Jewish furniture designers who were forced to leave Vienna. It presents their life stories and visionary designs—that are today more relevant than ever.
