MAK Works on Paper Room
These valuable early posters were purchased around 1900 by the "Imperial and Royal Austrian Museum of Art and Industry" as models for the training of graphic artists at the arts and crafts schools. Created by the first generation of French poster artists such as Jules Chèret and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec they show motives from Paris during the Belle Époque. "Les Maîtres de L'Affiche" documents the French turn-of-the-century enthusiasm for posters, the "art of the street". This exhibition continues the series of presentations of posters from the collection of the MAK Works on Paper Room.
