Dear friends of the MAK,

 

With great joy I assumed office as General Director and Artistic Director of the MAK on 1 September.

 

From Christoph Thun-Hohenstein, my esteemed predecessor, and Teresa Mitterlehner-Marchesani, who will continue as Managing Director, I have assumed a well-run museum that also overcame the last difficult months very well.

 

I have been affiliated to the MAK for a long time already: Here, I visited exhibitions and experienced moments that influenced me. I am thankful for the honorable and beautiful task of being able to shape a chapter of this museum’s history.

 

Through its collections, the MAK can form a direct connection between cultural history and the immediate, current living environment and product landscape of its visitors. Consequently, the MAK is in a position of making a particularly democratic, open offer to a diverse audience as well as providing a reflected and critical discussion of cultural manifestations. This is just as important to me as a versatile communication program, heightened attention for the work of female artists, and an illumination of the collection from new and unexpected perspectives.

 

Together with the entire team of the MAK, I will work on ensuring that the MAK is a place that represents excellence in design. We are looking forward to your next visit!
