Emerich ULLMANN

Physician Prof. Dr. Emerich Ullmann died on 9 February 1937. In his last will, he had appointed the society of doctors in Vienna to be his sole heir. To pay for the legacy and fees, the society of doctors in Vienna decided to auction Emerich Ullmann’s art collection. At one of these auctions at Adolf Weinmüller’s in Vienna on 8, 9, and 10 December 1938, the MAK purchased three groups of porcelains. Even though the society of doctors in Vienna had been absorbed by the medical chamber of the Reich after the “Anschluss,” the sale of the objects from the Ullmann estate does not classify as a seizure.
