The museum belongs to you!

Dear Visitors and Friends of the MAK!

The museum belongs to you! This central precept of our museum work has been severely tested by the recent exponential rise in Covid 19 cases.  But unfortunately, there is no alternative to the measures adopted by the Austrian government—measures that we fully support as necessary and appropriate. Please contribute through your own behavior to their success, so that they can soon be relaxed and the MAK, together with other cultural institutions in Austria, can open its doors again on 8 December.

When you visit us again starting on 8 December, four new exhibitions await you that we shall be setting up during the month of November. They range from exhibitions on Adolf Loos and the 100 best posters to our last popup exhibition on CLIMATE CARE, presented together with the Vienna University of Applied Arts. We are especially excited about our new exhibition BOLD AND FREE! The Invasion of Hidden Objects, that will thoroughly and irreverently bring chaos to our wonderful permanent collection rooms—an undertaking that a museum can risk only in times of crisis like the present …

Until then, at least online the museum belongs to you, and we have put together a number of entertaining digital offerings from across the whole range of our collections. In addition, our MAK LAB APP, the only one of its kind in the world, will  help you find answers to the big questions that will decide our future. Please take time to indulge in some digital browsing—the best place to start is our website.

We value your attention and look forward to your visit.

Stay healthy!

Best wishes,
